Would I recommend it ? YES , IN FACT I'VE already told my friends they have to pick it up to read .

Would I read more by this author? Yes .most definitely yes because she never let's me down .

Now on to my thoughts:

First a big thank you to the publisher Bookouture, the author Helen Phifer as well as to NetGalley for not only for the opportunity to read and review The The Vanishing Bookstore but also for helping me find one of my all time favorite books of 2024. As well as helping me discover that Helen Phifer can not only write suspense thrillers but amazing fantasy as well . Going into this I knew 2 things one was I already knew and love the writing style of Helen Phifer because of her series Detective Morgan Brookes which from the very start had me hooked on her , then this one came out of nowhere and nock me for a loop because up until now I had no idea she could fantasy.  But she did amazing job .And with out any doubt deserves the five stars I give it . As to why , here is why

A fanasty that is mixed with a historical mysterie that has  a touch of the supernatural that blends really well together that you literally can't see where one begins and the other components come into play . Her uses of the 2 different time-lines also work together and helped pull the storyline together. Her characters came to life off the page and their interactions with each other made them feel very real . Other thing I loved was the different powers the sisters had and how they was used . And there was a few other things I loved about this book besides the world building, the characters, the Bookstore and how it played a part in the story . But that would probably give to much away and I want you to pick this up for yourself to read and enjoy, who knows it might be a favorite of yours as well .

 About the Book:

‘Every story needs a happy ending. And you can’t have yours until you find the bookstore.’

1692. On the outskirts of Salem, a bookstore stands covered in overgrown vines. Inside, a young woman hides a linen-wrapped journal under a loose floorboard and runs away, panicked by the sound of hounds barking in the distance. The bookstore vanishes into thin air…

Present day. Stepping inside a pale-pink house on one of the oldest streets in Salem, Dora can’t believe she’s about to finally meet the mother she thought died tragically when she was just a child. But the excitement is short-lived. Dora’s mother has fear in her eyes, and with a trembling voice she whispers: ‘my life is in danger, and now so is yours…’

Desperate not to lose her mother all over again, Dora digs into her family’s mysterious past, and stumbles upon a seemingly impossible secret: the key to their survival is hidden in a bookstore that no one has seen for generations.

Losing herself amongst thorny brackens and twisted ferns, Dora eventually finds the path that leads to the bookstore. But someone is watching her. They’ve been waiting for her.

As she pushes open the beautiful blue door hidden amongst the sharp brambles, and stands in front of rows of crumbling leatherbound books with faded pages, she has no idea of the secrets she is about to uncover. Or that her life is in more danger than ever before…

Readers will lose themselves in the mesmerising magic of this absorbing and utterly unputdownable page-turner. Perfect for fans of Weyward, The Lost Apothecary and Practical Magic.
