Wolf Rebel

Wolf Rebel (SWAT, #10)

Title : Wolf Rebel
Series: SWAT: Special Wolf Alpha Team #10
Author: Page Tyler
Genre: Paranormal romance suspense
Pages:309
Rating: 5
She let him get away
SWAT werewolf Rachel Bennett is hounded by nightmares after a vicious attack left her with PTSD. Not knowing who or what she can trust anymore, she's relieved to be assigned to a high-profile protective detail. Diving into work might be the distraction she needs, until she notices the mysterious hunk who seems to follow her wherever she goes—and recognizes him.
Now he needs her help...
After he's badly injured, former Navy SEAL Knox Lawson seeks out Rachel when he realizes he's turning into a werewolf. He'd once been part of the group hunting her kind, but he knew he had to quit when he found Rachel in his crosshairs. Now he desperately needs her help.
Rachel isn't sure she trusts Knox, but having him around keeps the nightmares—and the monster creating them—away. Knox might not know much about being a werewolf, but there's no doubt he'll do everything in his power to win her trust and keep her safe.

Side Note: I actually read this back in March 2020, but for some unknown reason I didn't do the review at all even though its marked that I did .

My thoughts
Would I recommended it? Yes, but only to the ones that love this type of romance.
Would I read more of this series? In fact I have these books to read:
1: Hungry Like A Wolf
4: To Love A Wolf
6:Wold Hunt
9: Wolf Instinct
Would I read more by this author?Yes
This is my first time reading anything by this author and after reading this one I'm so looking forward to reading the others I have. One thing I love about this series is that I had no trouble understand what was going or who the team mates was because it reads like a stand alone which I love because I tend to read series out of order most of the time.Another thing I love about this book is that the author takes how you become a werewolf to a new hole level which is great, and the store's focus is on the action, suspense and thriller aspect then just the romance part of it.And its action packed from the very start to the very last page. With that said I want to thank Netgalley for letting me read and review it.

Would I read more by this author? yes
This is the first time I've ever read anything by  this author and I don have to say that while I liked it and enjoyed the story it was kind of slow for a cozy mystery. And I tend to read a lot of them , you can say that their one of my go to when I want to just read something and get lost in story and what got me to pick it up in the first place was the title itself. And I even liked the characters and the Charlie's cat name which I thought was funny, the story does pick up the more that you read it and it also have as feel to that there might be a bit more of a something between Charlie and one of the characters.Over all  it had  this had likable characters and a different setting, but the slow pace. But I do want to read more of this series to see if it gets better. With that said I want to thank Edelweiss for letting me read and review .

This was my first time reading anything by this author and i have to say that i can't wait to read more by her as well as more of this series. While it is book three in a series i had no trouble fellowing along with what was going on and who the characters were . One of the things i loved about this story was how the characters inter acted though out the book and how even though they knew one other for a few years they didn't rush into anything , they took their time and let themselves get to know each other better. The romance had a mixture of sweet but space to it which was great to see in a story. With that said i want to thank the publisher as well as NetGalley for letting me read and review it .

My thoughts

Would I recommend it? Yes
Would I read more by this author?yes
WOW I can't believe it took me this long to read this read this. Because once I started I knew that I was going to be in for a ride of my life and it didn't let me down. It even made me question who should I believe or even trust in this story, should it be the Louise ( the widow) or Becca ( the cop) both have so much to gain or even lose. Plus there was times I kept asking myself should I even trust either one of them. As well as reminding myself that people deal with death in different ways and that was perfectly fine. Then there was the times that I kept asking myself what if Patrick's death wasn't accident and if that's the  case who would want him dead or maybe it was suicide. As for the the two main characters while I didn't like them at times and while they both had flaws ,they did play off of each other really well ( think Sherlock Homes and his arch enemy Professor James Moriarty). An thing I should say is that its a slow burning which some case works and some cases doesn't but in this one the author was able to pull it off really well that it worked in away that it made you want to set back and just read and watch as the story came to life. But it does make it an interesting type of read as you find at more about the characters and what led up to this two different characters meeting like they did .So all I can say now is set back and enjoy the ride as your cleverly led me in one direction and then another, with the many twists keeping me guessing until the end. With that said I want to thank NetGalley as well as the publisher for letting read and review it .

While this is the first time I've ever read anything by this author I can see why a lot of people like her written style because of how it draws you int the story. Its packed with everything I love about a thriller which is twists and turns , lies , murder, secrets, as well as misdirection and surprises , and it leaves you with a feeling that you can't trust anyone including the main character Charlotte. With that that said i want to thank the publisher for letting me read and review it as well as the invite and a big thank you to NetGalley as well.

ABOUT THE BOOK:
After finding disturbing journal pages that suggest her late mother didn't die in a car accident as
her father had always maintained, Beth Walsh begins a search for answers to the question --
what really happened to their mother? With the power and relevance of Jodi Picoult and Lisa
Jewell, Rimmer pens a provocative novel told by two women a generation apart, the struggles
they unwittingly shared, and a family mystery that may unravel everything they believed to be
true.
With her father recently moved to a care facility because of worsening signs of dementia, Beth
Walsh volunteers to clear out the family home to prepare it for sale. Why shouldn’t she be the
one, after all? Her three siblings are all busy with their families and successful careers, and Beth
is on maternity leave after giving birth to Noah, their miracle baby. It took her and her husband
Hunter years to get pregnant, but now that they have Noah, Beth can only feel panic. And
leaving Noah with her in-laws while she pokes about in their father’s house gives her a perfect
excuse not to have to deal with motherhood.
Beth is surprised to discover the door to their old attic playroom padlocked, and even more
shocked to see what’s behind it – a hoarder’s mess of her father’s paintings, mounds of
discarded papers, and miscellaneous junk. Her father was the most fastidious,
everything-in-its-place man, and this chaos makes no sense. As she picks through the clutter,
she finds a handwritten note attached to one of the paintings, in what appears to be in her late
mother’s handwriting. Beth and her siblings grew up believing Grace Walsh died in a car
accident when they were little more than toddlers, but this note suggests something much
darker may be true. A frantic search uncovers more notes, seemingly a series of loose journal
entries that paint a very disturbing portrait of a woman in profound distress, and of a husband
that bears very little resemblance to the father Beth and her siblings know.
A fast-paced, harrowing look at the fault in memories and the lies that can bond families
together - or tear them apart.

PROLOGUE

Grace
September 14, 1957

I am alone in a crowded family these days, and that’s the worst feeling I’ve ever experienced. Until these
past few years, I had no idea that loneliness is worse than sadness. I’ve come to realize that’s because
loneliness, by its very definition, cannot be shared.
Tonight there are four other souls in this house, but I am unreachably far from any of them, even
as I’m far too close to guarantee their safety. Patrick said he’d be home by nine tonight, and I clung on to
that promise all day.
He’ll be home at nine, I tell myself. You won’t do anything crazy if Patrick is here, so just hold on
until nine.
I should have known better than to rely on that man by now. It’s 11:55 p.m., and I have no idea
where he is.
Beth will be wanting a feed soon and I’m just so tired, I’m already bracing myself—as if the
sound of her cry will be the thing that undoes me, instead of something I should be used to after four
children. I feel the fear of that cry in my very bones—a kind of whole-body tension I can’t quite make
sense of. When was the last time I had more than a few hours’ sleep? Twenty-four hours a day I am
fixated on the terror that I will snap and hurt someone: Tim, Ruth, Jeremy, Beth…or myself. I am a threat
to my children’s safety, but at the same time, their only protection from that very same threat.
I have learned a hard lesson these past few years; the more difficult life is, the louder your
feelings become. On an ordinary day, I trust facts more than feelings, but when the world feels like it’s
ending, it’s hard to distinguish where my thoughts are even coming from. Is this fear grounded in reality,
or is my mind playing tricks on me again? There’s no way for me to be sure. Even the line between
imagination and reality has worn down and it’s now too thin to delineate.
Sometimes I think I will walk away before something bad happens, as if removing myself from
the equation would keep them all safe. But then Tim will skin his knee and come running to me, as if a
simple hug could take all the world’s pain away. Or Jeremy will plant one of those sloppy kisses on my
cheek, and I am reminded that for better or worse, I am his world. Ruth will slip my handbag over her
shoulder as she follows me around the house, trying to walk in my footsteps, because to her, I seem like
someone worth imitating. Or Beth will look up at me with that gummy grin when I try to feed her, and
my heart contracts with a love that really does know no bounds.
Those moments remind me that everything changes, and that this cloud has come and gone
twice now, so if I just hang on, it will pass again. I don’t feel hope yet, but I should know hope, because
I’ve walked this path before and even when the mountains and valleys seemed insurmountable, I
survived them.

I’m constantly trying to talk myself around to calm, and sometimes, for brief and beautiful
moments, I do. But the hard, cold truth is that every time the night comes, it seems blacker than it did
before.
Tonight I’m teetering on the edge of something horrific.
Tonight the sound of my baby’s cry might just be the thing that breaks me altogether.
I’m scared of so many things these days, but most of all now, I fear myself.

My thoughts
Rating:4
Would I recommend it? Yes

Will I read anything else by this author? maybe

Now on to what I thought of the book.

Truths I Never Told You is the first book by a new and up an coming author Kelly Rimmer, and it tells the story of a family finding out abut secrets that their father has kept from them out their entire lives , it also deals with the father having dementia and how the family handles that as well as their own day to day lives. As for the story itself its well written and the plot has twists and turns that make it a powerful tale that is very compelling , as well as relatable and emotionally charged, ( side note : this could be seen to some as a trigger warning ) and the story just flows together. With that said I want to thank Harlequin -Graydon House Books as well as NetGalley for inviting me to read and review.

There’s not enough evidence to link the deaths—yet. But Meg scents a pattern, and when she gets word of another senior gone missing, she and Hawk don’t hesitate. Meg is sure a murderer is hunting the elderly, and she can prove it if she can just find a connection. Would I read more by this author? Yes
Since the first book came out of this series I've been hooked so of course as soon as I saw this on NetGalley there was no way I wasn't going to read it, right from the very start I was hooked and the characters become some of my all time favorite characters to read and watch as they come to life. With each book the series just keeps getting better and the characters grow and come more into themselves. Another thing I loved about this book was how the author used the history of each place she used in her story that it showed that she did her homework. As well as bring forth what  exactly what urban exploring was and she does an  excellent job of providing definitions of the terms she uses and how much people love doing it, which was something I had no idea about . With that said I want to thank NetGalley as well as the publisher for letting me read and review it and I can't wait to read more of this series .

Bears Behaving Badly Blog Tour

Welcome to my blog tour of Bears Behaving Badly
by MaryJanice Davidson
Publication Date: 3/31/2020

These social worker bear shifters give the term “mama bear” a whole new meaning! Bestselling author MaryJanice Davidson is back with this brand-new paranormal romance series featuring a foster care system for at-risk shifter babies and teens.

Werebear shifter Annette Garsea is a caseworker for the Interspecies Placement Agency. When a selectively mute and freakishly strong teen werewolf is put in her custody, Annette has to uncover the young girl’s secrets if she’s to have any hopes of helping her. And not even the growling of a scruffy private investigator can distract her from her mission…

Bear shifter David Auberon appreciates Annette’s work with at-risk teen shifters, but he’s not sure if her latest charge is so much a vulnerable teen as a predator who should be locked up. All that changes when he, Annette, and her motley band of juveniles find themselves dodging multiple murder attempts and uncovering a trafficking cartel that doesn’t just threaten the kids, but risks discovery of the shifters by the wider world of homo sapiens.

MaryJanice Davidson is the NYT and USA Today best-selling author of the UNDEAD and UNWED paranormal romcom series. Her books have been published in over a dozen languages and have been bestsellers worldwide. A former model and medical test subject (two jobs that are closer than you’d think), she lives with her family in St. Paul, MN.

Excerpt:
While David tore the intruders to pieces, Annette jacked shells into her .12 gauge. Twenty-inch barrel, six-round mag, and a place to attach a bayonet, not that she’d ever felt the urge.
She eschewed buckshot; slugs had the advantage of range, greater accuracy, would shred their target at 1,800 feet per second, and could knock a full-grown werewolf off all four paws. Slugs would also, to use the technical term, incapacitate like a bastard.
Annette stepped out of the room, socked the gun to her shoulder, fired at the
(sixty pounds, six-inch bite-wound radius, four feet at the shoulder, sees the gun but tries for my carotid anyway because he is a clear IDIOT)
werewolf, and moved slightly to her left as the werewolf’s momentum carried him another eighteen inches while the slug rearranged his coronary arteries.
To her left came a choked snarl that was chopped short. David had pulverized the werewolf’s vocal cords as he went in for the final strike. While she’d run for the gun case, he had killed the other one before he’d gotten a dozen feet from the car, now parked haphazardly at the far end of the yard.
“Oh, hell,” she said, popping the safety and inhaling. Blood, cordite, fear, blood, triumph, scones. “We live to bite another day, hurrah for us, but we’ve killed all our leads.”
Welp, as Mama Mac would say, better them than us. Then she’d bake a Bundt cake.
I would love a Bundt cake.
“Pat!” she called. “Sound off!”
“I’m good, we’re all good back here!”
“You okay, Annette?” David asked hoarsely. “You hurt?”
She turned to see David, all six-foot-plus of him, bloodied head to heels. He wiped his face with the back of a bloody hand, which was an exercise in futility. His dark hair was sticking up like he’d used gore for mousse, and he was all powerful arms and broad chest and long, blood-spattered muscles and, um, long…long…
Feet.
Do not gape at the man like a slack-jawed yokel, you slack-jawed yokel! Shifter nudity taboos were, by necessity, far more relaxed than anything in the Stable world. But it still wasn’t polite to stare, no matter how fine the Shifter in question was. Quite the opposite; it could be construed as a challenge.
“I’m all right. Are you?” She stepped closer, and there was no way, no way to stop herself from reaching out. “Well, hell. At least one of them got his teeth into you.”
“Worth it.” Now he stepped closer. Don’t read into it. Maybe he’s worried you can’t hear him from two feet away. He’s so considerate! “Are you sure you’re okay?”
She looked down at her sweater. “None of this is my blood, David.”
“That shouldn’t be as hot as it is,” he said, and cupped the nape of her neck and kissed her. Neither the time nor place, her inner Girl Scout primly pointed out, but damn, the man had a nice mouth. Mmmmm…Skittles…
Just as suddenly, he drew back, leaving her gasping. “Sorry.”
“That bad?”
He shook his head. “Christ, no. But I should’ve asked.”
“Is that an apology?”
“No.”
“Well then. This serves you right.” And she kissed him back. She was pressed up against him, more blood smearing on her sweater, and he was right—it shouldn’t be so exciting. But it was. It didn’t matter that she’d never shifted. Some urges were difficult to deny. For example, the urge to slide her hands down from the small of his back to the springy muscles of his ass, because for some reason men often had the most wonderful asses and David was walking around with a top-notch booty. It wasn’t fair.
She broke the kiss. “Dammit.”
“Yeah, our timing sucks. And I’m glad you’re okay, and you were right to go for the shotgun, but…” He trailed off, then added shyly, “I was kinda hoping to get a look at your beast.”
“Next time.” She took advantage of their proximity to take a closer look at his wound, while resisting the urge to stretch up and taste the spot behind his ear. “Not deep, at least. But you’ve definitely got more holes in you than you did this morning.”
“I’m fast, not infallible.”
“Noted.” Fast was an understatement. It hadn’t been two minutes since they’d gotten out of the car. “Let’s go check on the—”
“Okay, okay! I get it. Caro, you were supposed to drag me clear of the fight. Well, fight’s over, so it’s okay for me to leave the room, so you can just…dammit!”
Annette turned in time to see Pat limping into the kitchen while Caro, in wolf-form, gently clamped her teeth around his calf to hinder his momentum.
“Annette, will you tell her to step off, for the love of all that’s annoying?”
She went to one knee and stretched out a hand to Caro’s wolf, a beast the color of midnight with eyes like hurricane lamps. Such unusual coloring for a gray wolf Shifter. “Thank you so much. You did exactly right. You can let him fend for himself now.”
Caro dropped the bite and made a noise that sounded suspiciously like Hmph!
“Pat, are you okay?” She went to her roommate and started feeling him for injuries. “Does this hurt? Does this? How many of me can you see? Does…ow!
“I’ll slap your hand again if you keep that up. You know I’m hyperticklish. Why is there blood on your face? Were you so hungry you just started biting them as a biped? Because yuck and I’ll have to get to work on an intervention.”
“It’s just back spatter from the shotgun,” she soothed.
“On your face? In the shape of fingers? Like someone grabbed your face? With their fingers? And snogged you silly?”
“Don’t say ‘snogged’ like you’re British, and can we please realign our priorities?”
“You want to talk priorities? Bad enough I’m ruining my favorite apron to shield the eyes of the tender minors in our care—”
“Pat,” she said, exasperated, “literally no one cares about your dick.”

“My Instagram begs to differ.”
