About the Book:

It’s 4 a.m. when her mom shakes her awake. “Get up baby, we’re going to play hide and seek.” The little girl presses back into the dark space, holding her breath as she hears the shots ring out. She knows she’s next…

When the bodies of a local family are discovered on a quiet street in the small town of Dumfries, Virginia, Detective Amanda Steele takes charge of the case. Brett and Angela Parker were shot three times each, leaving no hope of survival, and their tidy suburban home has been ransacked. But there is no sign of their beloved six-year-old, Zoe.

Zoe is the same age as Amanda’s daughter was when she died, and Amanda can’t bear the thought of another little girl in danger. She’s organizing a search for the child, when she notices something strange about the ottoman at the foot of the Parkers’ bed. She opens it to find Zoe, mute and traumatized, but alive.

With Zoe completely uncommunicative, Amanda must find another way to untangle what destroyed this seemingly perfect family. It’s clear that the killer is searching for something the Parkers had, and until she has this monster behind bars, Amanda fears that he may return for Zoe. When she learns that Brett Parker cut short the family’s recent lakeside vacation, she wonders why. What happened at that lake house, and did it ultimately get them killed?

Amanda heads out to Lake Chesdin on the feeling it might be key to the case, and when she finds a cell phone in the murky waters next to the Parker cabin, she knows she’s made a breakthrough. But then terrible news reaches her from Dumfries; Zoe has been taken from her school playground.

Someone wants to silence the Parker family for good, can Amanda catch them before the little girl she’s desperate to protect pays the price?

A completely gripping and addictive crime thriller that will keep fans of Rachel Caine, Lisa Regan and Robert Dugoni entertained into the early hours.

First a big thank you like always to the publisher Inkyard - Harlequin Tread  , the author Mara Rutherford, and to NetGalley for the invite to join in to the blog tour for this book as well as letting me read and review it .Beautiful cover that as soon as I saw it I knew I want to read it . Plus the author is another new to me author which is great because I don't read a lot of ya fantasy . But what really got me to like the story besides the cover was the family bond , the word building , the different types of magic, and a evil powerful mage, not only is there all that but there is a bit of romance , secrets that needs to come out, good vs evil , and it some how makes the story flow together perfectly.

The Girl at my Front Door

Welcome to my blog tour stop for The Girl At My Front Door which is been hosted by Bookouture

Title: The Girl At My Door

Author: Rebecca Griffiths

Genre: Historical thriller

Rating : 5

Would I recommend it? Yes, in fact I've already told some of my friends about it and they all said they were adding it to their TBR

Would I read more by this author? Yes

Now on to my thoughts

First off  like always I  want to say a  huge  thank you to the publisher  Bookouture , the author Rebecca Griffiths  , and to NetGalley for the invite to join this blog tour as well as letting me read and review it.

OMG what a reading this was , right from the very start it give me everything that I love in a historical thriller or just a thriller in general ,dark, creepy and will make you stay in your set just to read. I do have to say that this is  my first time reading anything by this author and if this one is anything to go by ,I'll be checking her other ones out when I can. Other big win for this story was the fact that she based it on an actual true crime and serial killer of that time , ( which for those who don't know me , I love reading things that have to do about true crime or serial killers) and since I didn't know anything about that case or about the actual killer himself I had to look him up ( side note if you to know about him here is the link to read up about him which helped bring him even more to life : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Christie_(serial_killer) ) .I loved was how the author pulled her story off , and made you  feel sorry for the characters because they couldn't be true to themselves. And then there was the ones that you couldn't stand or even like , and lets not forget the ones that watched and planned from the shadows which also give the story the creepiness right up to the very end of the story.

Can one man’s crowded, messy life fill another man’s empty heart?

Raising a family was always Adam Mills’ dream, although solo parenting and moving back to tiny Garnet Run certainly were not. After a messy breakup, Adam is doing his best to give his young daughter the life she deserves—including accepting help from their new, reclusive neighbor to fulfill her Christmas wish.

Though the little house may not have “the most lights ever,” the Mills home begins to brighten as handsome Wes Mobray spends more time there and slowly sheds his protective layers. But when the eye-catching house ends up in the news, Wes has to make a choice: hide from the darkness of his unusual past or embrace the light of a future—and a family—with Adam.

Excerpt of The Lights on Knockbridge Lane by Roan Parrish

Everyone on Knockbridge Lane had a different theory about Westley Mobray. It was the first thing Adam Mills heard about as he introduced himself around last week, when he and August moved in.
The eight-year-old McKinnon twins next door said he was a vampire. Their parents, Darren and Rose McKinnon, scoffed at that, but said he could be a witch. Marisol Gutierrez three doors down insisted she’d seen him skulking around the neighborhood at night, hunting for animals to sacrifice to the devil. A teenager at the end of the street reported that anyone who looked him in the eyes would be hypnotized, and anyone who touched him would turn to stone. Mr. Montgomery on the corner just said freak.
Westley Mobray was never seen before sunset, though mysterious packages arrived on his doorstep often. He never spoke to anyone and never waved hello. And late at night, the windows of his run-down house glowed an eerie green.
At least, that’s what they told Adam.
So when he saw the man in question through the twilit haze of his own front window—with his daughter in tow—he was understandably startled. Especially since he’d thought she was playing quietly in her room.
He’d slammed two coffees to prevent it, but he’d been asleep. The kind of light, unsatisfying sleep he often fell into when he had a moment of quiet. Which was something that didn’t happen that often as the newly single parent of an eight-year-old.
His insomnia had been pretty bad since the divorce, and worse since they moved back to Garnet Run, where he was the only one responsible for Gus.
The knock at the door jerked him out of that strange sleep, and he scrambled for the door, stubbing his toe in the process, so that when he yanked it open he was biting back the kind of words that he tried with varying degrees of success not to say in front of Gus.
He focused on Gus first. She was all in one piece and was even smiling. It was her I did something bad and delightful smile, but a smile was good—at least when on a child who seemed to have been forcibly dragged home by an irate stranger.
“Where is your coat?” is what came out of Adam’s mouth.
Sometimes he tried to remember what it was like when he talked about things like the composition of his next shot, which restaurant’s tiramisu he preferred, or the latest cozy mystery he was reading.
Now he said things like “Where is your coat” and “Don’t take that apart” and “If you don’t stop making that sound I might have to throttle you.” Okay, he didn’t say the last one so much as think it. Often.
“It’s not that cold,” his wonderful, brilliant daughter said, her lips only vaguely blue.
Adam counseled himself to breathe.
Once he’d determined that Gus was all in one piece and frostbite wasn’t imminent, he turned his attention to the man who’d brought her home.
“Um,” he said intelligently.
Westley Mobray was tall and severe, with shaved dark hair and strong dark eyebrows over piercing blue eyes. Those eyes were narrowed slightly, either in anger or—if the neighborhood rumors were to be believed—because he never went outside when there was the slightest bit of light still in the sky, as it would, of course, burn him to ash.
“She broke into my house,” he said. His voice was low and rough with disuse.
“She’s eight.”

Read / Not Called

Book I used for this was :

Title: The Hatching
Author: Ezekiel Boone
Rating:5
A re read

An astonishingly inventive and terrifying debut novel about the emergence of an ancient species, dormant for over a thousand years, and now on the march.

Deep in the jungle of Peru, where so much remains unknown, a black, skittering mass devours an American tourist whole. Thousands of miles away, an FBI agent investigates a fatal plane crash in Minneapolis and makes a gruesome discovery. Unusual seismic patterns register in a Kanpur, India earthquake lab, confounding the scientists there. During the same week, the Chinese government “accidentally” drops a nuclear bomb in an isolated region of its own country. As these incidents begin to sweep the globe, a mysterious package from South America arrives at a Washington, D.C. laboratory. Something wants out.

The world is on the brink of an apocalyptic disaster. An ancient species, long dormant, is now very much awake

my notes on it:

five stars

chilled me to the bone and gave me goosebumps

and it literally creeps up on you

literally had me checking my bedroom and bathroom for spiders ,think goodness I didn't find any , had me feel like there was something crawling on me, if I wasn't afraid of Spiders before now, after reading this I can say that I am now, Plus I could see this as a movie if they did it the right way, because its intense, creepy, scary and disgusting ,and it'll have you setting at the edge of your set and jumping when every something toughs you at lest it had me jumping . With that said I can't wait to pick up a copy when I can. , and a big thinks to Netgalley for letting me read this and founding a great book to add to my library

Updated:

This was a re read for me ,and it's still a five star book , it was even better this time around and still give me the same creepy feel like before even more creepy since the weather where I live is stormy and cold perfect weather to read this type of book in.
