After The Wedding

Title: After The Wedding

Author: Laura Elliot

Rating: 4

Would I recommend it? Yes

Would I read more by this author? yes

Like always I want to give a big thanks to the publisher Bookouture, the author Laura Elliot ,the wonderful women of the Bookouture Anonymous Facebook group ( because without them and their hard work I wouldn't know about these amazing books to read )  and NetGalley for letting me request and review them on there as well as letting me join in on the blog tours .

First time I've read this author , can't believe it to me this long to do but wow , the story  itself is tense, atmospheric and fast paced and while it feels like it goes in different directions it also has a way of keeping you from guessing what is going to happen next. The characters themselves will make you feel like you want to shake them or scream at them for the decisions they make and will have you asking yourself ,what just happened. But somehow the author makes it all come together before the very end of the book. And that what I liked about , how it kept me on my toes ,made me second guess myself on what I thought I knew about the characters and what was going to happen next.

The Girl in the Shadows

Welcome to my blog tour stop for The Girl in the Shadows which is been hosted by Bookouture

Would I recommend this series ?Yes

Would I read more by this author? Yes

First off  like always I  want to say a  huge  thank you to the publisher  Bookouture  , the author  Marion Kummerow,  and to NetGalley for the invite to join this blog tour as well as letting me read and review it.When it comes to this series, even though they read as a stand alone , it's better to read them in order , this one showed how much Margarete has growing and how far she is willing to go to help her people , but there is also  betrayal that comes out from nowhere , and from a person that Margarete loves. Plus it's even more emotional than the last two was. Can't wait to read book 4 when it comes out. Also I loved how the author wrote this story was the Inspired by the true story of her grandparents, who belonged to the German resistance and fought against the Nazi regime.  Because of this it shows the love and the pride she has in them and it also makes the characters so much likeable and believable.

1943, Germany: Two years ago, fate gave a beautiful young Jewish woman named Margarete Rosenbaum the chance to survive the Nazis, by pretending to be one of them, hiding in plain sight. Now she must make a terrifying decision…

Margarete lives as Annegret Huber would have, in a beautiful rural mansion by a forest in northern Germany. She is the heiress to the entire Huber fortune—one which she has devastatingly discovered includes a factory and Nazi prison camp. Margarete has done everything she can to help improve conditions there, and to reduce suffering for the prisoners who remind her so much of her own lost family and friends.

However, as the war rages on and the Nazi party becomes more brutal in its treatment of Jews, she realizes she must do more. She has to help the prisoners escape to real safety, because they will never be safe in Hitler’s Germany.

She’s heard of a route to freedom through Sweden. Although that means secretly reaching out to the resistance. With the risk of betrayal at every turn, her enquiries lead her to a man named Stefan, who she instantly feels a powerful connection to. But she fears he will never trust her… unless she reveals the secret that keeps her safe.

At the same time, a Nazi officer begins to show romantic interest in her, making it harder to keep her identity a secret. His loyalty to the party is beyond question, so if he finds her out, not only will her plan be at risk, but also her life and those of everyone she cares for.

But can she let that fear stop her from saving others? Because she knows she herself could so easily be one of the faces on the other side of the fence. And that, in the darkest times, sometimes the only person who can rise up is the girl in the shadows…

The powerful third novel in Marion Kummerow’s bestselling Margarete’s Journey series is an unforgettable and devastating story, perfect for fans of The Nightingale, The Lilac Girls, and All the Light We Cannot See.

First off  like always I  want to say a  huge  thank you to the publisher Harlequin Trade Publishing, Park Row, the author Annie Ward  , and to NetGalley for the invite to join this blog tour as well as letting me read and review it.

When picking this book up, get in some comfy clothes,a drank, and some snacks, and tell your friends your all book up because once you start reading this you won't want to stop at all , or you might say  ok just a few more pages , but it'll be more then at believe me, I didn't want to stop when I start it. One of the things that made it so much enjoyable was how it was told, in such a way that it had you question everything you thought you knew about the characters and their lives, as well as who was the bodies that where carried out of the school , and was the tension between mothers and daughters just your typical teenage growing pains or was something else going on, there was one character in the book that right from the start I just couldn't stand, it seemed that he was always saying one thing and doing the exact opposite , and playing everyone against each other , the way he played the good guy was sicking , and the way he would talking the mothers into stuff by saying it was the best thing for their daughters just showed what type of person he was, and in the very end he got what was coming to him because he showed his true shelf, to find out who and what happened you have to pick this up and read it for yourself.

Hardcover

$27.99 USD, $34.99 CAD

416 pages

ABOUT THE BOOK:

Already a worldwide success in mass market and trade paperback formats, Susan Mallery’s newest hardcover is an emotional, witty, and heartfelt story about a woman who takes a trip to California to figure out her life and get a break from her family...only to be reminded that life--and your children--follow you wherever you go. With a powerful mother/daughter relationship at its core, fans of Elin Hilderbrand, Susan Wiggs, Mary Alice Monroe, and Nancy Thayer will love this book.

Robyn Caldwell’s family is driving her crazy. There’s Harlow, her daughter, who’s engaged to a man she’s only known a short time and is rapidly turning into bridezilla. And her son, Austin, who would rather work with his dad’s family charter boating business than go to college. Her friend, Mindy, who’s playing with fire by contemplating an affair with her tennis instructor. And let’s not forget her ex-husband whose bad behavior has just crossed the line yet again.

Robin needs some time to catch her breath and figure out what her next step should be. So when her beloved aunt Lillian asks her to come to Santa Barbara for an overdue visit, Robyn jumps at the chance. Her aunt Lillian is working on settling her affairs and a distant relative is staying with her that stands to inherit the house. Trouble is the last thing Robyn needs, but she refuses to let her aunt be taken advantage of.

While staying in her aunt’s beautiful, quirky mansion and spending time in the Santa Barbara sunshine with the woman who’s like a mother to her, Robyn will see herself—and the people she loves most—with a bit more clarity. And it will push her to take chances she hadn’t dreamed of before.

But life has a funny way of following you wherever you go. What began as an escape soon becomes an unforgettable adventure…and Robyn is ready to dive in, feet first.

ONE

“I’m going to sleep with Dimitri.”

Robyn Caldwell picked up her glass of white wine and briefly thought about swallowing the entire contents in one gulp. Mindy’s statement was certainly gulp-worthy. But she knew pacing herself through lunch was the responsible thing to do. A lesson her friend had yet to learn.

“You are not,” Robyn murmured, because shrieking wasn’t attractive. Especially at “the club,” where their friends and frenemies were also enjoying Thursday’s lobster salad. The dining room was filled with forty or so women, all dressed in Florida chic—diamonds sparkling, gold or platinum charm bracelets clinking, necklaces resting on tanned and toned skin.

“I might,” Mindy Krause said, picking up her champagne. “He’s gorgeous.”

“Of course. He’s a thirty-year-old tennis pro. What else would he be?”

Mindy, a petite brunette who was six months from turning forty, sighed. “I need a Dimitri in my life.”

“You have a great husband. Payne loves you and the kids, and never has eyes for another woman. Why would you screw that up?”

“Payne would never know.”

“There aren’t any secrets in this town. Not in our social circle.”

Something Robyn had learned the hard way herself. She’d been blissfully unaware of her ex-husband’s affairs until a “friend” had oh-so-sweetly informed her.

“Maybe just some kissing,” Mindy mused. “I want a little Dimitri action. The fantasies make me happy, so imagine what the real thing would do.”

“The fantasies are safe. The real thing could destroy everything you have. Knowing you’ve cheated would devastate Payne.”

Mindy’s mouth formed a pout. “I never see him anymore. All he does is work.”

Robyn stared at her friend-slash-boss. “You two talked about how that promotion would be more work for him but that it would be worth it. You wanted this for him.”

“I didn’t know how much he’d be gone.”

The unreasonable statement grated nearly as much as Mindy’s whine. “This isn’t a good look for you,” Robyn murmured. “You’re changing the rules without telling your husband. That never ends well.”

Mindy dismissed the warning with a quick shake of her head. “I’m not worried. Besides, if he does find out, I can just move in with you.” She laughed. “You’ll soon have that big house all to yourself.”

“You have four kids,” Robyn pointed out. “If things go south in your marriage, I’d rather have Payne move in.”

“Well, that would get people talking.” Mindy held up her empty glass to the server. “More, please.”

The server obliged.

Mindy took another sip. “My sister called, swears she found a Thomas Pister chest in a tiny shop in Wales. It’s dirt cheap, so I’m afraid it’s a fake. She’s looking for someone to prove authenticity. Wouldn’t that be a find?”

“It would. I’d love to see it.”

Thomas Pister had built beautiful chests and cabinets in the late 1600s and early 1700s. His intricate designs with stunning inlays sold quickly and for huge amounts. Depending on the condition and the materials, a good-sized chest of drawers could go for sixty or eighty thousand dollars.

Title: The Rebel and the Rake

Series :(League of Scoundrels #2)

Author: Emily Sullivan

Narrated by : Victoria Aston

Length: 10 hours 10 minutes

Unabridged

Publisher: Hachette Audio

Rating: 4

First off  like always I  want to say a  huge  thank you to the publisher  Hachette Audio , the author Emily Sullivan  , and to NetGalley for the invite to read and review it.As well as to Forever for sending me a physical copy of it. This book had a lot of what I love in a fun historical romance that I can just read and get lost in to , and since I had both the audiobook and physical book ( which I could read along with ) I would set there for a few hours a day enjoying the story and the characters. One of the main things I loved about this story was the compelling characters it had ,as well as abundance of intrigue and mystery that came though the story and didn't take anything away from it or the romance part of it. As for the narrator she , she brought the characters to life and give them their personality.

He holds her fate in his hands—she holds his heart in hers.

Rafe Davies might seem like just another charismatic rake, but in reality, he is one of the crown’s most valuable agents. As relentless as he is reckless, Rafe has never come upon a mission he couldn’t complete. But when he encounters the intriguing-yet-prickly lady’s companion Miss Sylvia Sparrow while on assignment at a Scottish house party, he finds himself thoroughly distracted by the secretive beauty.

Though most women would be thrilled to catch the eye of a tall, dark, and dangerously handsome man, Sylvia is through with that sort of adventure. She trusted the wrong man once and paid for it dearly. The fiery bluestocking is resolved to avoid Rafe, until a chance encounter between them reveals the normally irreverent man’s unexpected depths—and an attraction that’s impossible to ignore. But when Sylvia begins to suspect she isn’t the only one harboring a few secrets, she realizes that Rafe may pose a risk to far more than her heart . .

First off  like always I  want to say a  huge  thank you to the publisher Bookouture , the author  D.K Hood , and to NetGalley for the invite to join this blog tour as well as letting me read and review it.

Every time I read one of these books I get sucked into the story, there just something about them that I love , wither it's the creepiness , the way you see through the eyes of the unknown killer or killers and as your reading you literally hear their voice in your head. The characters Kane and Alton ( 2 of my all time favorite ones , plus Duke), how close they are with their team and are like a family. The town itself ,reminds me why it would be a nice place to visit but not to live in.And the sinister aspect that the someone is watching from the shadows but as to why that's a question that hopefully will be answered in the next book. And let's not forget that once again D.K.Hood made me want to cry both happy and sad tears. If you haven't read any of this books yet , then what are you waiting for , your missing out on a great series .
