Welcome to my review of Voices in the Snow
She could hear a scratching noise. It came from above her and below her
all at once ,like a finger nails on stone dying breaths dragged through rotting lungs.
My thoughts
Rating: 5
Genre: Horror
Would I recommend it? Yes , in fact I've already started to.
Would I read more of this series? Yes in fact thanks to NetGalley I have books 2 and 4 to read.
Would I read more by this author? Yes , in fact this is the third time I've picked up a book by her.
First off I want to think Poisoned Pen Press for having the give away that they had and for sending me a copy of this, I was so surprised when I got the email saying that I was one of the ten to win a copy of this book. As soon as I got it , I know that I wanted to read it but I was going to wait until October but as you can see I just couldn't wait , I needed to read it now and man am I glad I did. It was just what I needed to get me out of what was starting to feel like a read slum. It was dark and creepy so much so that you don't want to read it with the lights off ( or even by flashlight or candlelight), it well also have you double checking the shadows just to make sure their just shadows and even then the entire time you will be feeling unease and a bit jumpy.
Title: Voices In The Snow
Series: Black Winter #1
Author: Darcy Coates
Clare remembers the cold. She remembers abandoned cars and children’s toys littered across the road. She remembers dark shapes in the snow and a terror she can’t explain. And then…nothing.
When she wakes, aching and afraid in a stranger’s gothic home, he tells her she was in an accident. He claims he saved her. Clare wants to leave, but a vicious snowstorm has blanketed the world in white, trapping them together, and there’s nothing she can do but wait.
At least the stranger seems kind…but Clare doesn’t know if she can trust him. He promised they were alone here, but she sees and hears things that convince her something else is creeping about the surrounding woods, watching. Waiting. Between the claustrophobic storm and the inescapable sense of being hunted, Clare is on edge…and increasingly certain of one thing:
Her car crash wasn't an accident. Something is waiting for her to step outside the fragile safety of the house... something monstrous, something unfeeling.
Something desperately hungry.
