This is a new to me author and after reading this I can definitely say I've found a new author as well as an new romance series to read. And while this is a spin off from a series I've never read before and now want to read , you can still read this series by itself as it does gives some background stories of the characters . With that said I want to thank the publisher as well as Netgalley for letting me read it and I can't wait to read more of it.

Wild Wild Rake blog tour

Welcome to my blog tour of Wild Wild Rake

Her first marriage was an epic failure.

Lady Avalon Warwyck never did love her husband. Arrogant, selfish, and cruel, it’s a blessing when she’s widowed and left to raise her son all by herself. Finally, Avalon can live freely and do the work she loves: helping fallen women become businesswomen. She’s lived these past ten years with no desire to remarry―that is, until Mr. Devan Farris comes to town.

Can he convince her to take another chance at happily ever after?

Devan Farris―charming vicar, reputed rake, and the brother of Avalon’s son’s guardian―is reluctantly sent to town to keep tabs on Avalon and her son. Devan wishes he didn’t have to meddle in her affairs; he’s not one to trod on a woman’s independent nature and keen sense of convictions. But she’ll have nothing to do with vicar with a wild reputation―even though he’s never given his heart and body to another. If only he could find a way to show Avalon who he really is on the inside―a good, true soul looking for its other half. But how can prove that he wants to love and care for her. . .until death do they part?

she becomes the star witness in the case against her deceased
husband’s powerful crime family. Now it’s up to

But as the danger escalates and sparks fly, will Jax be able to help Ali escape
her ruthless in-laws?

EXCERPT:
She shivered. The fire had gone out.
She kept on her jacket while she added logs to the fireplace and kindling to get it started. Within a couple of minutes, the fire was going. She’d had a fireplace as a kid,
so relearning her way around this one hadn’t been so bad.
She went back to the kitchen and turned on the kettle for tea.
Bob growled low in his throat and
stared toward the front door.
She froze. Her phone was in her hip pocket.
Her gun was still in her waistband at the small of her back. This was something else Marshal Holloway had insisted upon. He’d taught her how to use a handgun. They’d held many target practices right behind this cabin.
A creak beyond the front door warned
that someone was on the porch. She eased across the room and went to the special peephole that had been installed.
There was one on each side of the cabin, allowing for views all the way around. A man stood on the porch.
He was the typical local cowboy. Jeans and boots. Hat in his hands.
Big truck in the drive.
Just like Marshal Holloway.
But she did not know this man.
“Alice Stewart, if you’re in there,
it’s okay for you to open the door. I’m Sheriff Colt Tanner. Branch sent me.”
Her heart thudding, she held perfectly still.
Branch would never send someone to her without letting her know first. If for some reason he couldn’t tell her in advance, they had a protocol for these situations.
She reached back, fingers curled about the
butt of her weapon. Bob moved stealthily toward the door.
“I know you’re concerned about opening
the door to a stranger, but you need to trust me. Branch has been in an accident, and he’s in the
hospital undergoing surgery right now. No matter that his injuries were serious,
he refused to go into surgery until he spoke to me and
I assured him I would look after you, ma’am.”
Worry joined the mixture of fear and
dread churning inside her. She hoped Branch wasn’t hurt too badly.
He had a wife and a daughter.
She opened her mouth to ask about his conditioen she snapped it shut. The man at her door had not said the code word

In fact this is book 4 of hers that I've read so far and I actually own one that I have to read , while this is book 5 in a series and I've actually already read book 6 as well I had no trouble understand what was going on fact this one of my favorite types of romance to read , where  the characters go up against the bad guys and one of the main characters is a cop, one of the things I loved about this was how the many character wasn't afraid to stand up for what was right and that was going up against her husband's family . Another thing I love was just like her other books I got lost in her story and wasn't even upset that I spent the day away reading it . With that said I want to say thank you to Harlequin Intrigue as well as Netgalley for inviting me to read and review it ,and I can't wait to read more by her .

When it comes to a William W.Johnstone book they never lete down , I know as soon as I start reading them I'm going to enjoy it from start to finish and that I'm going to want to read more of the series as well as the authors.Thier books always seem to reminde of the old black and white movies especially their westerns.Their my go to when I'm feeling like I just need to get lost in a story and the characters , because no matter what type of story it is the characters come to live and that's what happened in this one.So with that said I want to thank Nett for letting me read and review it.

Calling On Quinn

Welcome to my blog tour of Calling Quinn

by Blue Saffire
Publication Date: 2/25/2020

He's trouble—of the very best kind

Quinn Blackheart is a private investigator, former cop, and no-nonsense,
take-charge kind of guy who adores his sprawling Irish family. He likes to check all the boxes,
and his niece's gorgeous driving instructor just earned a place at the top of his to-do list.

Alicia Rhodes has had a tough, chaotic year, and she's ready to put the past behind her
and find happiness in the present. When handsome Quinn Blackhart
shows up at a driving lesson, she can see he's the very best kind of trouble—
but is she game? Now isn't a great time to get involved with a man—
even if he's the most romantic, supportively ,
understanding, magnificent man she's ever met.

So between unfinished business of Alicia's,
and a dangerous case threatening the Blackhart family,
Quinn is determined to both woo Alicia and keep her safe—
which is going to make for one wild, sexy ride.

As a young girl, Blue’s mother introduced her to the world of love
and music through movies, but once she got her hands on books,
an author was born. With more than thirty contemporary romance novels
and novellas under her belt, she’s now an award-winning, best-selling author.
She lives with her husband on Long Island.

Excerpt:
Quinn
That lass does my head in. I don’t know how she can annoy the fuck out of me
and turn me on so much I forget my own name at the same time. My body wants to go after her,
but my mind is telling me to stay put.
My brothers and I have been on rotation to watch over Erin. Ma and Da left a while ago
so Ma could shower in her own home and spend time with the babes. Kasey and Molly
need their grandma. All of this is a big adjustment for the family.
I think we’re all exhausted.
I can’t say the last time my mum didn’t stay overnight here at the hospital,
with my da right by her side. I was happy to sit in while they take some time away.
However, now my jaw ticks
as I watch the swaying hips of the woman who’s been on my mind for a week.
I need to talk to her. That call went all wrong the other night.
I’ll be the first to admit that I’m nothing but awkward when it comes to dating.
Still, that woman made it a hell of a lot harder to try to ask her out.
I twist my lips into a frown as I watch her walk away. Trenton walks past her in the hallway,
turning his head to watch her go by. I release a growl,
Ifeeling possessive and irritated.
“Now, that’s a looker.” He whistles when he enters the room.
“Stay here,” I snap at him.
“Wait, what?” he calls after me, but I’m already in motion.
My long legs eat up the floor as I head in the direction Alicia retreated in.
I have her in sight as the elevator arrives. She steps in and the doors go to shut.
I get there just in time to stick my foot in the way of them closing.
The lift makes a dinging sound as it opens wide. Alicia looks up from her phone as I step on.
Our eyes lock and I close the distance between us. She drops her head down shyly
to break the connection. She has to feel the same thing I feel.
This energy that’s charging the tight space between us has a pulse.
The elevator chimes and others begin to crowd on, causing us to move closer together.
Alicia tries to take a step back, but my hand shoots out. It lands protectively on her waist,
drawing her into me to shield her.
I trap a groan between my lips when her soft curves press against me.
She still won’t look up at me, but she doesn’t wiggle out of my hold either.
She feels so right this close.
I dip my head to whisper in her ear, “We need to talk.”
She lifts her head to look at me, her lush lips are parted, begging me to kiss them.
I’m this close to listening. The lift stops again, allowing more passengers onto the car.
Alicia places her hands on my chest as we’re squished more closely.
The look in her eyes tells me I’m not alone in this. She indeed feels it too.
When we reach the lobby, the crowd starts to exit. I maneuver her body in front of mine
to cover her as I lead her out. She relaxes into my hold on her waist,
causing me to have hope that this won’t be a fight.
As soon as we get off the car, my newfound confidence implodes.
A stony-faced Kevin is standing outside the elevator. When he turns his eyes to me,
I know my talk with Alicia is going to have to wait.
“We need to talk,” Kevin says gruffly.
“I should be going anyway,” Alicia rushes out.
She tries to take off, but I wrap my fingers around her forearm to
stop her forward motion. She turns to look back at me. I grind my teeth against
the electric current that zaps straight up my arm.
“This isn’t over. We’ll be having that talk,” I say before releasing her.
“Not such a good idea, but it was nice seeing you again. I’ll keep Erin in my prayers,”
 she replies softly.

Britain's Unsolved Murders

Title: Britain's Unsloved Murders
By : Kevin Turton
Genre: Nonfiction - true crime
Rating:4
Britain has its fair share of unsolved murders. Crimes that have both fascinated and horrified in equal measure, with many as baffling today as they were when the stories first hit the headlines in the national press. Spanning 100 years between 1857-1957, this book re-examines thirteen of these murder cases and retells the stories that have endured and confounded both police and law courts alike. Each chapter provides an account of the circumstances surrounding the killing, of the people caught up in the subsequent investigation and the impact it had on some of their lives. It also explores the question of guilt and to whom it should, or should not, be attached. Each of these murders poses an undeniable truth; no-one was ever proven to have committed the killing despite, in some cases, accusing fingers being pointed, arrests being made and show trials taking place. Consequently, notoriety, deserved or otherwise, was often attached to both victim and accused. But was it ever merited?

From the questionable court case surrounding Scotland's now famous Madeleine Smith, and the failed police investigation into Bradford's Jack the Ripper case of 1888, to the mysterious deaths of Caroline Luard and Florence Nightingale Shore at the start of the twentieth century, this book disturbs the dust, sifts the facts and poses the questions that mattered at the time of each murder. Did Harold Greenwood poison his wife in Kidwelly? Who was responsible for the Ripper-like killing of Emily Dimmock and Rose Harsent? Why did Evelyn Foster die on the moor near Otterburn in what became known as the Blazing car murder and who strangled Ann Noblett to death in 1957?

These are just some of the cases examined and the stories behind them. Each and every one, no matter how appalling the crime, still deserving of justice.

My thoughts
Would I recommend it ?yes but only to those who love to read true crime
Would I read more by this author?Perhaps
One of the things that made me I
pick it up was the title ,because I love reading anything especially nonfiction that has to deal with cold cases because these are cases that may never be solve. And sadly these well never be because they happened in the mid 1857 though 1957. This book talks about each case as well as gives the story behind it .As your read it you can definitely tell that the author has done his research on each case and brings them to life. With that said I want to thank Netgalley for letting me read and review it .
